National animal welfare charity the League Against Cruel Sports has announced the appointment of five new trustees to its board.
From software development to CEO, animal welfare lawyer to global marketeer, the League’s Chair, David Fielding MBE, says the new additions add strength in depth to the now 10-strong board with their huge range of experience across multiple sectors.
David added: “I am delighted to announce our strengthened board after a process in which we were inundated with incredibly strong applicants. Exciting times are ahead for the League as it stands on the cusp of achieving real change in the protections available to wild animals in the UK.”
The new trustees are: Elizabeth Anderson, a highly experienced campaigning and advocacy CEO with experience of charity governance; Caleb Firat Cicek, and entrepreneur specialising in AI and software development; Marcia Hagon, a criminal barrister specialising in animal law, who also has a background in animal rights activism; Robert Allen, trustee of the Animal Law Foundation and partner in a leading law firm who works pro bono on animal welfare cases; and David Osborne, who joins us with extensive experience in international commercial marketing and strategy.
Emma Slawinski, CEO of the League, said: “With these new appointments we are strengthening the board’s animal protection knowledge base, as well as welcoming individuals with a high calibre of experience across diverse sectors.
“We are looking forward to the added scrutiny and support the new trustees bring to our work as we deliver our new five-year strategy on behalf of animals and our supporters, and I am very much looking forward to working with them in what should be a pivotal year for animal welfare law.”
The new trustees join Ashleigh Brown, Neil Moulding, Hannah Carter and Daniel Dickson-Hope on the board, and their appointments are subject to ratification by the membership at the League’s AGM in the autumn.
