Our commitment to a compassionate workplace

At the heart of our charity is a shared compassion for animals, uniting us in a common cause. It's the understanding that our differences, rather than dividing us, bring about better outcomes for the animals we advocate for. As we strive to create a world where animals are treated with the respect and care they deserve, we recognise the importance of embodying these principles within our own workforce.

Our commitment goes beyond mere words. We aim to build a team that is not only passionate about our mission but also truly representative of all sections of society and our diverse group of supporters. We acknowledge that individuals from ethnically diverse backgrounds are often under-represented in the charity sector and face unique barriers when pursuing roles in our charity and beyond.

To address this disparity, we have undertaken a proactive stance, both internally and externally. Our Diversity & Inclusion Group works to cultivate an environment where every individual, regardless of their background, is treated with respect and given equal opportunities for personal and professional growth. We regularly review our employment practices and procedures, and we actively monitor the makeup of our workforce, encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion at every level. Externally, we actively participate in initiatives like the Race for Nature's Kickstart Placement Scheme, The RACE Report, and Wildlife and Countryside Link's Route Map to Boost Ethnic Diversity in the Environment Sector.

From recruitment and compensation to professional development and beyond, our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy guides us to ensure our workplace is free from unfair and unlawful discrimination. The terms within our policy are not just rhetoric; they are the guiding principles of our actions. We believe in equality, where everyone has the same opportunities, free from discrimination.

For us, inclusion is about creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and can be themselves, celebrating the differences that make us unique, and recognising and eliminating barriers to create equal opportunities for everyone.

We are committed to building a workplace where compassion for animals is mirrored in our treatment of each other, where diversity is celebrated and where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Join us in creating a world where our differences make us stronger, and our compassion brings better outcomes for animals and humanity alike, one ethical and sustainable decision at a time.
