Our team of League Experts

We are very grateful to our team of League Experts who offer their expertise, knowledge and support to us by providing pro bono services. Like us, they have a passion for defending persecuted animals. We believe in working collaboratively to influence the general public, politicians and generations below us to allow us to live in a society where cruelty to animals in the name of ‘sport’ is a thing of the past. Thank you to all our League Experts for sharing our vision and working alongside us.

Douglas Bachelor

Douglas joined the League as Chief Executive in 1999 when the hunting fraternity were doing their best to see off opposition to hunting and coursing.

As a former farms and estates manager and consultant to agricultural businesses, he understood that cruelty to animals was never good for the animals, the farmers or for business. Because of his background he was able to argue, that hunting and coursing were both cruel and unnecessary.

He has always fought against bullying and oppression, particularly where people in positions of power seek to ride roughshod over those less fortunate or less able to stand up for themselves. For Douglas hunting and coursing are clear cases of abuse, not just of animals but of people too.

Nigel Brazier

Nigel Brazier is a partner at Burnand Brazier Malcolm Wilson. He has acted for the League for many years, providing legal advice and expertise pro bono and also undertaking a number of services, focused on conveyancing and the transfer of sporting rights. His work is helping us protect animals from persecution across the UK and we are privileged to have him on our side.
