“For the Silent” launch
Posted 3rd May 2019
I’m really proud to have been part of the launch of “For the Silent”, an anthology of poems published in aid of our work. The audience sat in complete silence at Cheltenham Playhouse, listening to poems read by five of the contributors and Ronnie Goodyer from publisher Indigo dreams. Many of the poems were written by our wonderful supporters and we thank them all for their contributions.
You could have heard a pin drop. Some poems were heart-breaking but others light and amusing, and all of them were met with a murmur of appreciation. I am not going to say too much as you really must buy the book, not only to help us protect animals that are being persecuted by cruel ‘sports’ but to appreciate the talents of Ronnie and the other contributors. It was an honour to be there and to be surrounded by such supportive people. You can buy the book here - you won’t be disappointed!
As Andy Knott, our CEO, says in the forward of the book: “We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for supporting us with this anthology. We assure you that every penny really does count in helping us to protect animals from being harmed or killed in the name of sport.”
Thank you to Roisin Wood, one of our Gloucestershire group members, for helping me on the night, and it was lovely to see League trustee Peter Waghorn attending and supporting the event too.
Finally, if you’re interested in joining a local supporter group please have a look at our website.
