Charity chief raises nearly £9,000 for animals
Posted 5th July 2021
Andy, the chief executive of leading animal welfare charity the League Against Cruel Sports and a former army officer, honoured the memory of national hero Captain Sir Tom Moore by organising a Captain Tom 100 fundraising challenge.
Andy Knott MBE, chief executive of the League Against Cruel Sports, said: “Nothing can match what Captain Tom did, but as a veteran of many conflicts myself, his example has inspired me to do something to help win the current battle against cruel animal sports. Please help me and my team give animals a voice.
“In our recent history, the League has secured bans on hunting with dogs, increased legal protection for wildlife, and saved countless animal lives. We played a pivotal role in bringing the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Bill to Parliament which increased custodial sentences for the worst cruelty from six months to five years, and this passed into law earlier this week.”
Andy, a former Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army, served in Afghanistan with 2 Signal as their commanding officer.
He has already raised nearly £9,000 but is aiming to reach a target of £10,000 – you can donate to support Andy and the League at:https://www.league.org.uk/donate/donate-now/10
Andy added:
“If you choose to support me, every pound will go towards ending the cruel sports of hunting, shooting and animal fighting. Your support will help us protect animals from needless suffering.”
