Stay at home heroes

Nothing is going to change our aim of ending hunting, shooting and animal fighting even if that means we have to adapt the way we do that; at least for the foreseeable future.

These are challenging times for us all, but we can turn them into cheerful opportunities; we just need to be creative! There has been a bright side of lockdown for wildlife and nature; it is getting a genuine chance to flourish with less human intervention. This presents us with a great opportunity; together we can build on this momentum and ensure that when the human health crisis abates, wildlife will continue to thrive and be protected from cruelty in the name of ‘sport’.

We’re calling on League Stay at Home Heroes of all ages and abilities to get fundraising and actively create a kinder future for animals. It’s simple and easy to get involved! Just create a fundraising page with us on, take on a challenge of your choosing and ask friends and family to sponsor you.

You don’t need access to the great outdoors to be a great fundraiser. Here are some easy ways to raise money for persecuted animals from home:

  • Host a virtual pub quiz, charge an entry per person and donate half the prize pot.
  • Ask your friends and family to donate the money they are saving by working from home: the price of a morning coffee, lunch with a colleague or a day’s savings from being commute-free.
  • If you are shopping online, check to see if your retailer is on easyfundraising and raise a donation for us when you checkout at no extra cost to you.
  • Any event you can think of! Whatever you chose to do is up to you – just know that your commitment is helping to stop hunting, shooting and animal fighting.

If you are taking advantage of your daily exercise allocation, these ideas may inspire you:

  • New to running and want to get motivated? You could do a sponsored couch to 5km!
  • Take on a virtual event! Set yourself a goal, collect donations online and then cycle, run or walk your way to the finish line.
  • Take on the challenge of neighbourhood dog walker and ask for a donation for your service

Make sure you share your fundraising page on social media and tag us @LeagueAgainstCruelSports on Facebook and @LeagueACS on Twitter and Instagram, so we can share it too!

You will have a dedicated contact at the League to help you get the most out of your fundraising. Email us at [email protected] and we’ll not only help you get started but also give you lots of support throughout your fundraising journey. We look forward to hearing from you!

United, we will get through this. All the while creating a kinder future for animals, one where they are free from cruelty in the name of ‘sport’.
