Statement re Peter Egan

League Against Cruel Sports - Statement regarding Peter Egan.
We were sad to let Peter go, as he’s a great animal welfare campaigner. But he wasn’t dismissed for ‘asking questions’, it was more that he refused to listen to the answers. The League is currently being threatened, not just by the pro-bloodsports lobby, but by a small group of people who have their own agenda and are campaigning against one of this country’s most famous charities simply to protect their own egos.
Peter unfortunately has been criticising us without cause or evidence. When we’ve tried to explain the truth he refused to keep it confidential and declined several offers to discuss his issue with those whom he objects to leading the Charity, despite never having met them. So we’re moving on.
The League is currently more effective, efficient and influential than it has been for a long time; this is by far the prevailing view and rightly so. We’re no longer wasting time on people who want to see us weakened. Peter, we’re sorry it came to this, and we wish you well, but we now have a strong Board and professional staff all aligned and focussing on our job together – to end cruel sports, once and for all.
