On Monday 10 December Yorkshire Water is attending the prestigious Utility Week Awards ceremony - and we will be there to present them with the ‘Wildlife Destruction Award’ alongside Ban Bloodsports on Yorkshire's Moors. Campaigners will hold huge light-up letters spelling out “Yorkshire Water: Ban Grouse Shooting” and informing industry peers about the damage taking place on the company’s grouse shooting moors.

Grouse shooting is permitted on Yorkshire Water moorland. Over 100 bone-breaking traps were found by investigators on just one of the company’s moors - set to eradicate native stoats and weasels, so that more red grouse are available to be shot. Animals were also found left rotting in traps in which wildlife can take up to two minutes to die.
