EVERY DAY, ANIMALS ARE ABUSED FOR ‘PLEASURE’ AND PEOPLE ARE GETTING AWAY WITH SICKENING CRIMES.

Dog fighting and hunting with hounds are illegal. But vile ‘sports’ like these are still widespread. Every day, animals are killed or maimed for human pleasure or profit.

Now, more than ever, animals need a strong voice to lobby government on their behalf, ensuring penalties for cruelty are tightened and laws like the Hunting Act are never repealed. They need the League – and we need you.

Banner with the closeup of a brown pitbull and the message: "Cupcake: victim of dog fighting".

Rescued after years of cruelty, Cupcake the Staffordshire Bull terrier was heavily scarred and nearly blind in one eye. She was also wary of humans and other dogs. Thanks to the League, Cupcake has a loving new home and her vets bills are also taken care of. She is slowly learning to trust people and other dogs and she loves playing ball. Every day she leaves her past a little further behind her and is finally able to live the life she deserves.

Membership gifts mean we could rescue and rehabilitate other vulnerable dogs like Cupcake.

ABOUT US

Since the League Against Cruel Sports was founded in 1924, we’ve campaigned tirelessly against the persecution of foxes, hares, deer, dogs, badgers, pheasants, grouse and many other animals. We were instrumental in the Hunting Act 2004 – which has so far protected an estimated 100,000 foxes, deer and hare from immense cruelty – and increasing penalties for dog fighting in Northern Ireland. But while people continue to commit barbaric crimes against animals, our fight goes on.

HOW WE SPEND SUPPORTERS GIFTS

  • We investigate animal cruelty, often working at great risk, exposing and helping to bring to justice those behind illegal hunting and dog-fighting.
  • We campaign for stronger animal protection laws, and have successfully seen off attempts to weaken the hunting ban
  • We educate members of the public, government officials and elected representatives across the UK so that they better understand the ways in which animals benefit us all – and the ways in which they are cruelly treated
  • We protect hundreds of thousands of animals including foxes, badgers, deer and hares in our wildlife sanctuaries and areas where we own the 'sporting' rights, covering thousands of acres.
