Badger cull petition reaches 100,000 signatures

The League Against Cruel Sports, a member of Team Badger, a coalition of animal welfare organisations opposed to the badger cull in the UK, is today celebrating after reaching 100,000 e-petition signatures, meaning the issue can now be considered for debate in The House of Commons.

Joe Duckworth, Chief Executive of The League Against Cruel Sports comments on today’s achievement: "This represents 100,000 votes for badgers which the Government should count, then reflect on their cruel and pointless badger cull policy. This is the start and we expect at least another 100,000 signatures."

The League Against Cruel Sports along with the other organisations within Team Badger are urging the Government to stop the cull and implement a more sustainable and humane solution of both a vaccination programme for badgers and cattle, along with improved testing and biosecurity.

The portal for those wishing to sign the petition is www.stopthecull.com.
