Why the new film is so important to our trustee

Written by Christina on 18 July, 2012 : 10:00

League trustee, Lawrie Phipps talks about why the shooting campaign is so important to him and explains the gruesome reality of the gamebird shooting industry and why it needs to be stopped.

If you would like to watch the full documentary 'Gunsmoke and Mirrors' then please visit our shooting section of the website.

How can any decent human being defend the indespensable. I don't know how we can call ourselves the superior beings on this planet, when we kill for fun.

We are still in the age of barbarism but today we hide behind a cloak of technology and call it civilisation. [Harry Dell 1935 - said that]

Why be cruel when you can be kind?

Good luck for this excellent campaign.

Shamefully this barbaric industry is actively supported by all the main poltical parties, including the Labour Party. It is not widely known that it is Labour Party policy to this barbaric industry and so -called 'predator control'. More needs to be done to put presssure on the Labour Party to stop supporting bloodsports

Please inform BBC Countryfile about this as several times they have had items about the game industry and always talked as if they are natuarally raised and birds of prey have been the culprits in all of the deaths.

I whole heartedly agree with everything that Lawrie Phipps says in this video, as a Londoner I have been shocked to experience first hand the callousness of some folk who live in the rural areas of Britain and France. The meat industry is bad enough but to kill for fun as many do, beggars belief. Well done Lawrie and the League for trying to change things for the better for animals and birds, if I can increase my regular donation I will.
