People don't trust politicians because they break promises, so I say that it is right to be sceptical about what they may promise about the use of the Forestry Commission land. This land, like the coast of GB, belong to the common people and is a heritage not to be trusted to private owners who will undoubtedly have a vested interest in making money from these woodlands and forests.

The present government is obviously on the side of private enterprise. We've seen what happened to John O'Groats and Lands End when given over to private owners. We must fight to preserve land for human enjoyment and the security of wild life.

This will be like many of our rivers, sections of which are privately owned and you are trespassing if you try to walk along the banks. The only thing left for the government to sell is the air that we breathe. I use the forests for walking and my husband takes Air Cadets there for training. They will not be able to afford to pay for the privilege of something which belongs to all of us.

Please don't use the Foresty Commission land. Let it stay a peaceful forest. Don't take from the lungs of the earth and mortgage our children's future. Pam Mariko Queensland, Australia
