'Fox week'

Written by Christina on 23 January, 2011 : 12:46

Early February in Germany sees what is known as ‘Fox Week’; it is a week or more where hunters and blood sport enthusiasts throughout Germany attempt to kill as many foxes as they can simply for their own pleasure.

An organisation based in Germany, Schonzeit für Füchse (closed season for foxes) has now begun an international campaign to end this annual kill. Through the support of animal welfare organisations around the world it is hoped that pressure can be put on the German government to ensure that an annual closed season for foxes is enforced.

We have added our name to this campaign which now has the support of over 45 other organisations. You can find out more information about 'fox week' and how you can help from the group Serbian Animals Voice - please be warned that the site contains some shocking images of animal cruelty.

I believe Germany was the first country in the EU to include animal rights to its constitution so it seems even more appalling that this cruelty is allowed.

Disgusting vile barbaric activities that have no place in the 21st century. Any person who partakes in such barbaric evil animal cruelty has a serious psychological deficit.

This is just the image that modern Germany can do without. A country progressive enough to have banned live animal hunting decades ago and have one of the world's biggest "Green" movements can definitely do without this prehistoric nastiness.

Its disgusting to know how low people can go. I can understand to an extent about killing for food but to kill for fun, how is that even acceptable? I sometimes wish that we humans could have someone that had more of an authority so that these people could be hunted down just so that they could experience what these poor innocent animals have to go through. Truly these people are ill and need help, that is if anyone wants to help horrible people like them.

The embedded link "45 other organisations" is in a foreign language. Thank you to LACS for letting its supporters know that its name has been added to this list of international animal welfare organisations who are campaigning to have this hideous mass killing of foxes known as "Fox Week" in Germany stopped. Does LACS, who in the past achieved great success together with the RSPCA and IFAW in getting the British Government to ban foxhunting and other blood sports like it in Scotland, England and Wales know whether the RSPCA and the IFAW are amongst these "45 'Fox Week' opposing organisations" and if they haven't already joined LACS in putting their animal welfare organisations' names to the list, will they be doing so?
