Looking back on 2010, it’s clear that we’ve had an extremely successful year. I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to everyone who has lobbied their MP this year and urged them to support our campaigns in Parliament.
Early Day Motion 116, which supports the Hunting Act, has become the third most signed EDM out of more than 1,200. This is a truly fantastic achievement and would not have been possible without the tremendous efforts of our supporters.
Significant progress has also been made on other Early Day Motions. EDM 252, which opposes the cruelty of rodeo events in Canada, has now gained 90 signatures.
More recently, 20 MPs have signed EDM 897 which condemns the killing of the Emperor Stag on Exmoor.
EDM 899, entitled ‘Snares’, was launched to accompany our recent submission of a 20,000 strong petition to Caroline Spelman (MP and Minister for DEFRA). The EDM has rapidly gained 81 signatures from MPs - a superb achievement.
Parliament breaks for Christmas tomorrow, but we look forward to building upon these successes in the New Year.
